• Published Articles Dr. Dean G. Lorich is the Associate Director of the Orthopaedic Trauma Service at the Hospital for Special Surgery and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He is also an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University, Adjunct Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and member of the teaching faculty of the AO/ASIF Foundation. Dr. Lorich specializes in treatment of: - Minimally invasive fracture surgery - Fractures and dislocations of both the upper and lower extremities - Complex fractures with angular deformities and/or bone defects - Foot fractures including fractures of the talus, calcaneous, navicular, metatarsals, etc. - Poly-trauma patients with orthopaedic injuries - Fractures of the foot and ankle - Non-unions - Malunions - Periprosthetic fractures - Insufficiency fractures - Cases requiring correction of deformity or limb lengthening Dr. Lorich has also published extensively on these topics including numerous articles and book chapters. After the completion of his residency at the University Hospital of Pennsylvania in 1995, Dr. Lorich completed a Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship under the direction of Dr. David L. Helfet at the Hospital for Special Surgery in 1996. Dr. Lorich was selected for the prestigious Martin Allgower Traveling Trauma Fellow in Bern, Switzerland under Rheinhold Ganz, MD, and Christian Krettek, MD in Hanover, Germany. He has in the past and continues to be actively involved in Orthopaedic research and lecturing nationally and internationally. Dr. Lorich was recruited to Hospital for Special Surgery from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he was Chief of Orthopaedic Trauma and Director of Orthopaedics for five years.
