As an experienced orthopaedic trauma surgeon, Dean G. Lorich, MD, has seen all manner of traumatic injuries. However, nothing in his practice with the Orthopaedic Trauma Service prepared him for the catastrophic injuries he saw and treated at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany this past October.




Dr. Helfet Honored at the 2008 Tower of Hope Gala


The Tower of Hope celebrated its Second Annual "Lighting the Path" Fundraising Gala on Thursday, April 3rd.

This year's Lighting the Path gala was a big success. At this year's fundraising event, Annette de la Renta and Nancy Kissinger presented the 2008 "Thomas E. Sinton Humanitarian Award" to Dr. David L. Helfet, MD and Major Rebecca Gimenez. Dr. Paul Pion presented the 2008 "Beacon of Light Award" to Dr. Melissa Nixon, DVM.

The Tope of Hope is a charity with many exciting initiatives going on in 2008 focused on providing service dogs to combat-wounded veterans with double and single amputee injuries. They have also expanded their initiatives to include advocating for provision of assistance animals to those in need and educating the public on the importance of assistance animals to humanity.
